Helen and Friends is Helen Hooker’s first CD in her own name Helen is accompanied by Karen Kingsley (piano), in music which includes works by Malcolm Arnold, Alan Bullard, J S Bach and Walter Bergmann. She is joined by Pam Smith and Steve Marshall in music for recorder trio by Byrd and Lupo, played on large and rich-sounding instruments. The programme also includes Helen’s renowned playing of unaccompanied Telemann and Van Eyck. The CD finishes with Steve Marshall’s exciting Recorder Concerto No 2, a work written for, and dedicated to Helen. |
