May Hill Double-Header 2015

Conducted (Saturday) by Ann and Steve Marshall and (Sunday) by Helen Hooker

Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th September 2015, 10:30am – 4:30pm on both days (refreshments served from 10:00am)

May Hill Village Hall, May Hill, Longhope, Gloucestershire, GL17 0NL
May Hill is half-way between Gloucester and Ross-on-Wye, and about 20 minutes from the M5

In 2014 we had the idea of two separate playing days over a weekend, using the village hall at May Hill. We called it the May Hill Double-Header, and it was a big success, with both days selling out many weeks in advance. We therefore decided to repeat the formula in 2015, on the weekend of 26/27 September to be precise.

This new double-header comprises:

with Ann and Steve Marshall

Ann and Steve will lead a day of music where the smallest instrument is the tenor (so-called eight-foot ensemble). This is a gorgeous sound, and Ann and Steve will bring it within the reach of U3A standard players by careful choice of music. Sorry – no descants or trebles on this day!

with Helen Hooker

Helen is quite simply one of the UK’s best-respected and best-liked recorder conductors, and very experienced at conducting pieces written for two (or more) ensembles. This day is aimed primarily at SRP players, although anyone of moderate playing standard is very welcome.

All music is provided, and there is parking at the venue. All you need is a packed lunch, your recorders and a music stand. Attendance at each day costs £12 (or only £20 for both days), including tea, coffee and biscuits.
